A very long, 12 hr bus ride through the park to Kantishna, an old mining town deep in the park.. We had excellent views of "the mountain" (Denali) in the morning but later clouds developed that concealed the mountain entirely.  It is so high that it has it's own ecosystem with weather much different than at other points in the park. Although we did not see a lot of wildlife, we did have several opportunities to see them up close.  We had one grizzly sow and two cubs cross the road in front of our stopped bus, then walk along side of the bus before ambling off into the brush. Later we followed a bull caribou down the middle of the road for about ten minutes before finally jumping across the ditch and into the woods. In addition, we saw numerous other caribou at various points along the way. We also saw Dahl sheep at several locations but they were all up high on the slopes.  Finally on the return trip, we saw our first moose feeding in a small kettle pond along the side of the road.
