Last night was the summer solstice so it never really got dark at any time during the night. We were both tired from a long day of driving, much of it in rain, so sleeping was not a problem.  We made a quick stop for pictures at the monument marking the end of the original Alaska Highway, then on to the final campground in the Fairbanks/North Pole area. The entire drive was done under clear and sunny skies, which was a first in a long time. Immediately after pulling into our assigned space we were deluges with curious fellow campers! There was a hoarde of about 20 people, two-thirds men and the rest wives, trying to figure out just what we were driving and what sort of deal the trailer was. Once set-up it was off to get the oil changed (we ended up doing it ourselves as a Jiffy-Lube type place) and groceries. Finally, back at the campground, it was laundry time!  Tomorrow is reserved for some serious maintenance on the cars so that is all done and over with before the wives arrive on Sunday evening.
