An extra long day today as wanted to make Dawson Creek to get back "on schedule. This was planned to be our only day over 200 miles, but having stopped earlier than initially planned last night, we had an extra two hours of driving above and beyond. Cars were running well for the most part, although Brian struggled on one hill coming out of a river valley. Stopped for gas just north of Grande Prairie and once moving again, Lee's "wired together muffler" gave up, leaving pieces along the road.  A new one is being FedExed to Watson Creek so hopefully it will be there waiting for us on Friday.  Later, Lee's car flat out quit running. After nearly an hour of diagnosis, we concluded the issue was sediment in the gas tank plugging the outlet, thus depriving the engine of fuel. Finally made it in to the campsite in Dawson Creek with another hour of time change – we're now 2 hr behind Iowa.  Picture headings:  1) typical of Alaska highway though it may be hard to see ups and downs in the road ahead; 2) Official mile 0; 3 & 4) Proof we made it to Dawson Creek; 5) spotted by a couple from Regina, SK

Whitecourt, AB to Dawson Creek, BC

Distance traveled:  246.2 miles
