The day started out like way to many mornings – cloudy, cool and looking like rain! Fortunately the rain last evening had ended so we didn't have to break camp in the rain.

The first part of the drive was on fairly good roads that were quite straight, but the second half involved several hills and one steep (9% grade for too much of the five miles of climbing) mountain. We did however see our first moose while driving the Alaska Highway.

When setting up camp, we noticed that Brian's bed had come apart (the lock nut was off the bolt), but we needed a "C" clamp to pull the frame back into position. Thankfully, the camp maintenance man had one that he let us borrow so we were able to mend the broken bed. Brian's other option (Plan B) was to sleep in the back of his pick-up, but given that there was a LOT of wind plus some rain during the evening and night, that didn't seem to appealing to him.
