Another early start as we hoped to cover a lot of miles today. The road actually leveled out and straightened out about 30 mi into Alberta, for which we were both thankful.

We stopped for gas at a Shell station at the intersection of Highways 2 & 43 on the northeast edge of Grande Prairie and as Brian was filling up his car he was approached by a man (Brad) who introduced himself as the owner of the station/convenience store. He asked the usual questions about the cars and camper as well where we were from and where we've been. He then shocked both of us by offering to comp made-to-order breakfast sandwiches for us. Then as his staff was preparing those, he sweetened the offer and had them make a second sandwich for each of us for lunch! Thanks Brad! If any of you are ever in the area, stop in and thank him for us as well. You might get lucky and have him comp a sandwich for you too!

Although there were only scattered clouds when we left Dawson Creek, the cloud cover gradually increased and we even had some light precipitation around noon as we left Valleyview and headed south toward Whitecourt. Dang! We just can't seem to catch a break and go 48 hours without some precipitation!
